Step by Step Method

Step 1

Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a flat-bottomed pie plate or baking dish. Place bread slices, one or two at a time, into the egg mixture and flip to make sure both sides of bread are well-coated.

Step 2

Melt butter in a large skillet or on a griddle. Place bread slices in skillet or on griddle and cook until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Serve immediately or keep warm in oven until ready to serve, but no longer than about 30 minutes.

Step 4

MY NOTE: If you leave your bread in the mixture for an extended amount of time, it will absorb more liquid and take longer to cook through.

  • For a richer flavor, use half and half or coconut milk instead of whole milk.
  • You can use any type of bread you like, such as white, wheat, or sourdough.

  • Substitute coconut oil for butter for a healthier alternative. Coconut oil is high in healthy saturated fats that can help support heart health and is a great source of energy.
  • Substitute almond flour for the white bread for a gluten-free option. Almond flour is a great source of protein and is naturally gluten-free, which is beneficial for those with dietary restrictions.

Cinnamon-Raisin French Toast Add 1/4 cup of raisins to the egg mixture before dipping the bread and sprinkle an extra teaspoon of cinnamon on the bread before cooking.

Yogurt Parfait: A yogurt parfait is a great way to add a healthy and flavorful touch to the French Toast.
