"This simple recipe comes together quickly and it delicious with coffee or tea. It's so much faster than cooking cinnamon toast when I have a houseful of hungry kids. Serve as as a breakfast treat or a sweet snack."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Slice the French loaf into approximately 1-inch thick slices. Set aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg (if using), and vanilla extract. Mix well until a smooth and creamy cinnamon butter mixture is formed.

Step 4

Spread a generous amount of the cinnamon butter mixture onto one side of each bread slice. Make sure to cover the entire surface evenly.

Step 5

Place the coated bread slices onto the prepared baking sheet, cinnamon butter side up.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes, or until the bread is slightly toasted and the cinnamon butter is melted and bubbly.

Step 7

Remove from the oven and let the cinnamon bread cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
