"In the garden or anywhere, this is a lovely cocktail. The basil is a little unusual but not overpowering. Use good gin, you don't have to get too fancy, but Tanqueray or Bombay will make a big difference over a bargain brand. To double strain, pour from your shaker through a finer mesh sieve, if you don't mind basil bits in your drink, skip this step."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Add gin, Aperol, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice.

Step 2

Add basil leaves, shake well; the basil will break up and flavor the rest of the cocktail.

Step 3

Double-strain into a glass and top with about ½ ounce of Prosecco.

Step 4

Garnish with basil sprig.

Wow! I think I found my new summertime beverage! I love the herbaceous taste of the Aperol - it's quite unusual! The first one was a bit sweet, so I tried it without the simple syrup and it was perfection! Thanks for posting! Made for SWT 2019.
