Step by Step Method

Step 1

Melt lard; add to buttermilk.

Step 2

Add egg.

Step 3

Sift flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder together.

Step 4

Beat wet ingredients into dry ingredients.

Step 5

Drop into hot oil by teaspoonfuls. Do NOT Go tablespoons these expand like crazy.and will not get done in the middle. We used cinnamon sugar as topping

These were rather easy and delicious! Kind of like doughnut holes. I rolled mine in cinnamon sugar. Yummy with coffee or tea anytime!
