"I was first introduced to these delicious biscuits when a fellow sailor pulled along side of our boat with a basket of them for us! It was his uncle's secret Cowboy Biscuit recipe . . . took me awhile, but finally figured it out! They're unusual because they use yeast, baking powder and baking soda! Prep time includes rising time!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large bowl mix the yeast into the flour. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow to sit for 30 minutes to allow the flour to hydrate.

Step 2

Preheat Oven to 375 degrees F. Generously flour a work surface and roll the dough out to 3/4" thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.

Step 3

Place on ungreased sheet and bake in 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.

Step 4

Note: The dough can be made in advance and stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
