"Korean mandu are similar to pierogi. If you don't want to make your own, they can sometimes be found at Asian markets. Wonton or Gyoza wrappers will work, too. This is a sweet, dessert version I found in K Food by West."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine flour, sugar and salt with blueberries. Gently crush about 1/2 the berries with a fork as you mix everything together until almost paste-like consistency.

Step 2

Fill small bowl with cold water.

Step 3

Lay a mandu skin in the palm of your hand and spoon a teaspoon of blueberry mixture into the center.

Step 4

Dip thumb and forefinger of other hand into water and use them to fold over one side of the skin to form a little parcel. Press edges together with fork to seal. Repeat with rest of ingredients.

Step 5

Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mandu and fry at least 30 seconds per side until lightly brown and crisp. Drain on paper towels. Homemade skins will take longer to fry.

Step 6

Serve with vanilla ice cream and Yuja curd (if available!)

What a tasty treat! Blueberries used this way are wonderful. I couldn’t find the large wonton/gyoza wrappers anywhere and didn’t want to use the small ones, so substituted with egg roll wrappers. Because they split easily, I was afraid that the blueberries would ooze out while frying, but they didn’t! There was only one that split slightly and they came out so nice and crispy on the outside. Very good. Thank you, Linkster, for sharing! Made it “For your Consideration” tag game.

OMG sooo good. So easy! and honestly a bit elegant. I made as written except that I made them in my airfryer! I just found any recipe for filled won tons in the airfryer and got the timing from that. They took a quick 4 minutes! Absolutely loved these! Making them again tonight!

Such tasty little morsels and so very easy to make! I hadn't thought of turning leftover won ton wrappers ino turnovers but I sure will remember to do so in future. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for posting this! Made for World Tour 2019.

Oh YUM! The hardest part of this recipe is not burning your mouth when eating them because you can't wait for them to cool all the way. Because I am taking them to a potluck I sprinkled powdered sugar over the top but as a sacrifice I did try one with ice cream for photos. Made for World Tour 2019 and know I'll be thinking of other fillings. Perfect!
