"This is a traditional Bahamian treat. I haven't made this yet, but it sounds a bit like peanut brittle, but made with sesame seeds instead of peanuts. Servings is a complete GUESS!!! I think that, instead of dropping spoonfuls, I would spread it in a parchment lined shallow tray, let set, and then cut into squares."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat a frying pan on medium heat and add seeds. Stir continuously until seeds have browned evenly. Pour seeds into a heatproof bowl and set aside.

Step 2

In the same pan combine sugar, water, and a pinch of salt. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a boil. Add benny seeds to liquid mixture and continue to stir with a wooden spoon to avoid mixture from burning. Adjust heat and simmer until the mixture coats the spoon and is golden brown in color.

Step 3

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto a greased pan and let it set until cool and firm.
