"This is the first homemade pizza dough I ever made and I still keep coming back to it. Please keep in mind that flour types are different from one country to another so start off with a bit of flour and add more as needed."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine the water, yeast, and 1 1/2 cups of the flour in a large bowl. Mix well.

Step 2

Add the oil, salt, and remaining flour.

Step 3

With large wooden spoon or your hands mix the ingredients together until the dough holds its shape. You may need a bit less flour, so add the last half gradually.

Step 4

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. If the dough becomes sticky, sprinkle a bit more flour over it.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled 2-quart bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let the dough rest until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Step 6

When the dough has risen, place it on a lightly floured surface, divide it into two or more parts and roll them into balls. Cover them with a towel and let rest for 15 minutes.

Step 7

Lightly grease a large pizza pan and spread dough onto it.

Step 8

Cook at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes until bottom is golden brown.

Dissie

This made a great pizza crust. I did several things wrong and it still worked great. I was running short on time, so I only let it rise for 40 minutes. but it sure looked like it had doubled in size. Then I only let it rest about 10. It still worked and was a great texture and everyone enjoyed dinner. Thanks Bea, another winner!
