"These 'Ballymaloe Balloons' were originally created by legendary Myrtle Allen of Ballymaloe House. They have since made their way into to both Darina and Rachel Allen's kitchens + cookery boo . These taste like the doughnuts at chinese restaurants or the canned biscuits"

Heat a pan to 190 degrees celsius 375 f.

Step 2

Mix dry ingredients, then add milk to ingredients gradually until thick batter.

Step 3

When oil is hot in pan, take dessert spoonful of mixture and place in oil. Fry until golden brown (4-5 minutes). They kinda stuck to the bottom of my deep fryer basket .just loosen them and flip over.

The dough was easy to prepare and they were done in no time. I mixed the sugar with cinnamon to roll the doughnuts in when they came out of the oil. Yumm!!
