"Use a can of NESTLÉ LA LECHERA milk. Very common dessert in Argentina where dulce de leche was invented. Must chill overnight. To serve, run small spatula around edge of pan. Invert serving plate over pan. Turn over; shake gently to release."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Get water bath ready: fill roasting pan with warm water to about 1-inch depth.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 3

Heat sugar in small, heavy-duty saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, for 6 to 8 minutes or until dissolved and caramel-colored.

Step 4

Pour onto bottom of 9-inch-round cake pan and quickly swirl around bottom to coat.

Step 5

Next place evaporated milk, dulce de leche and eggs in blender and cover.

Step 6

Blend until mixed together.

Step 7

Pour into prepared pan.

Step 8

Cover lightly with foil.

Step 9

Place pan in large prepared roasting pan.

Step 10

Bake for 60 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.

Step 11

Remove flan from water.

Step 12

Cool on wire rack.

Step 13

Refrigerate overnight.

Step 14

To serve, run small spatula around edge of pan.

Step 15

Invert serving plate over pan.

Step 16

Turn over; shake gently to release.
