Tis the Weekend! ... and It's rainy :(

Oh well, it's welcomed.
No Farmers Market today; I have enough to work with.

Today, trying to fit in the end of the yard work between rain showers. Some inside work (normal stuff); and, an easy dinner.

Had my fill of sushi last night, very good and fun. I did win but didn't loose (poker). and, we watched Wolf of Wallstreet. OK, not my thing.

Dinner ... I got some great fresh shredded/shaved beef from the store. It will be good a quick pan sear with mushrooms, onions, and a jalapeno. Add a little broth, worcestershire; and serve as an open face sandwich on a toasted roll. Top with provolone; simple greens on the side. I do have some fresh strawberries with a spoon of greek yogurt for dessert.

If my gf doesn't make it. I will freeze the other bit of the beef mix for another sandwich night or lunch.

Yup, rain. Rain and more rain. Although it's supposed to stop this afternoon until Tuesday. The river near my house is over "bankfull" stage, but not quite to "flood" stage yet (bankfull is 11 feet, flood stage is 12, and we were at 11.2 feet as of yesterday morning), but the flood advisory is in effect "until further notice".

Today I'm heading to my sister's house for my nephew's birthday party. They always get a six-foot sub from Subway, and then we're also having macaroni salad, potato salad, fruit salad, and I'm doing a garbanzo and vegetable salad I'll have to post later. With, of course, cake and ice cream. My dad and stepmom will be there, so hopefully he's having one of his good days (Parkinson's and Alzheimer's make for not very many of those).

We will be having what they call "London Broil", it is nothing more then a thick round roast as London Broil is a method of cooking a flanl steak not a cut of meat. It will be roasted with herbs, as a side we will be having a packaged at the store potatoes, garlic and beans side dish.

Felix ... Rain her as well. Most of the day. I'm ready for sun tomorrow.
Hopefully you will dry up soon as well. At least NO NEW snow. Maybe you will see crocus soon, ;)

Hope you have a nice time at the party today. I can always enjoy a good sub!

GF over around 6, hopefully I can use the grill; but not betting on it. Just the sammies tonight. My friend is bringing a movie ... no clue. Nice night to enjoy a bottle of wine, sit back, and relax!

I do make london broil quite often. Always good. Yes, Shadows, people think it is a cut; but ... just a method. But you can go to the store and get a london broil cut packaged. They trim it; and, it is a bit thinner at times. It's all marketing isn't it.

ENJOY! I used to marinade in my Bloody Mary mix, a little vodka too w/onions; then, grill slowly on indirect. Always came out pretty good.

Morning!

Well, I hope some of you are thawing out; but, I know some of you just got more snow. My friend in OH that I talked to last night, had 5", and more to come. The Snow Gods are just not cooperating this year.
No rain here today; but only 65, so chilly for us. But, back to the yard.

Dinner ... I was going to make soup with a gf, but she can't make it; so change of plans.

Lady #4, I'm only making 2 meals this week, plus sandwich salad
- Bean soup; whole wheat rolls; kale salad
- A chicken dijon broccoli casserole (to be posted); fresh fruit salad
- A container of http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/greek-tuna-salad-10129; homemade bread

Me, http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/creamy ... nd-ham-774; but, I am using breakfast sausages vs ham; baby minted peas

The last batch of snow stayed south of us!!! In fact, today we're supposed to get up to 50F, and tomorrow over 60F. Of course after that it's supposed to drop again with more rain/snow/sleet, but for a minute it's almost like spring. I've seen two robins so far. :D We're still keeping a close eye on the river: It might not be officially above flood stage, but several houses are underwater and it's still rising. Flood watch through next Saturday night.

Dinner today is more of an afternoon dinner, with snacking later on. Mom just left for my sister's house for her delayed birthday dinner (they were all sick last week), so I'm doing my usual "make a bunch of stuff I can't eat when she's here" thing. I'm looking at homemade creamed corn (recipe from the Loveless Cafe), a new chocolate-banana microwave mug cake, and some from scratch macaroni and cheese (recipe from F.com).

Felix and Shapes - sound good.
Felix, my friend just outside of Cleveland had some 6" last night. They heard snow, but were shocked when they went out for pizza. Heavy, thick snow. NO way, they stayed in.
I think a NO MOM night is a good thing, enjoy.

Shapes, noodles with anything is good in my book. Asparagus was cheap at the market this weekend, but unfortunately I didn't go. I'm hoping next week I can get some.

I am ending up with the scalloped spuds with sausage; but, now in the oven. Had to replace a gutter this afternoon. My son came over and did the roof; but, when he cleaned one down spout, we noticed a tear, rip in the gutter. A trip to Home Depot, $35.00 later, the gutter was replaced w/the help of my son - definitely a 2 man job to make it easy.

I offered dinner, but he doesn't like scalloped spuds ... or, they just are not his favorite. Instead I made him a big turkey roast beef sub sandwich. He was a happy boy. Some fruit, homemade chips; and, on his way. I would be happy too, lol

Morning, and can you believe ... it's the last day of March!

Make sure to stop by April's Dinner thread tomorrow ... I will post the link later today.

Today is pretty easy. I'm catching up on yard work before working tonight. But, I have a lot of paper work to catch up on too, so a busy day. Nice and warm but cloudy today - makes for an easy yard day.

Ladies #1 and #2: The same scalloped potatoes I made last night; but, pork chops for them; mixed kale vegetable salad w/mustard vinaigrette

Me: Finishing off the lamb meatballs as a wrap sandwich - w/lettuce, tomato, red onion, Feta, and tzatziki sauce; fruit salad.
