Smoked Cod & Steamed Cabbage

Post by Bergy » Sat May 27, 2017 10:31 am

The Cod is Eastern Wild Smoked Cod cooked in the same manner as Black Alaske Cod. It is very tasty but can't be compared to Black Alaska. I would still buy it again if I can't getBlack Alaska. It is expensive. The cabbage was a very small head that just served the two of us. The carrots lookvery dark orange but this is their colour. They are a special type, very sweet, and are about8" long & 3 inches thick. We can only get them about once a year. I don't know their story but I know we love them. I think they have wintered in ground and had several frosts. The potatoes are this years crop.

Looks like a fantastic meal Bergy!
Some carrots do darken greatly when over wintered in the ground, I used to practice that with beets and carrots, also enhances the flavors. 8-)

When I was so much younger, many years ago ;) , I remember smoked cod being served every Easter.
I hated it at first but as the years grew I learned to like it, although never enough to serve it up to my family.
This recipe does look good, a more modern and tasty take on the old fashioned Easter cod I endured as a child:?
This recipe and photo's may have me on the turn! ;) :D
Well done Bergy!!!!!
I might just pop this in my cookbook for next Easter.
