HF, that's not a bad price from Whole Foods. Next time I'm down that way, I will check it out.

Morning Gang ...

Well, our 'food frenzy' and poker was fun. I didn't win, but didn't loose (looser buys the drinks for the next time). My fridge and freezer got a good clean out which was also a good thing.

Didn't hit the market today; have enough to use up first.

Today's Cooking ...

Nothing special today. I have a couple of small slices of ham to use up; so, ham salad. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/lindas ... rolls-2630, a nice easy recipe. I may add some celery, since I don't have too much ham; but, it is really good. Something I can have w/crackers for lunch today and tomorrow.

Dinner: Chicken quarters on the grill. I think I will brine them a couple of hours; then grill and finish with a apple BBQ sauce (it is a jar sauce), but from my Farmers Market made locally, it is really delicious.
On the side, sauteed snow peas, carrots, and summer squash; fresh strawberries.

Dis, have a good time at the Casino. And yes ... you need to spend time together. Believe me ... married to a cop for 20 years. The first 2 years together, he worked midnights, and I worked days and nights. We saw one another when we could. Neither one of us had weekends off, so it was hit and miss

No cooking and a night out sounds like the perfect plan! :D :D

Good Sunday Morning All!

Where did Sat go? Got half of what I needed to get done. Geeze! We seriously need a 3 day weekend

Today's Cooking ...

My normal cooking for Lady #4. Three (3) meals I deliver tomorrow am. Today is will be 3 + an extra salad since one is just soup.
- Shrimp scampi w/angle hair pasta, toasted baguettes w/tomato olive salsa; salad
- Ham and asparagus quiche; fruit salad
- Pot of Stuffed Pepper soup; loaf of bread
- Also, a container of roast beef salad spread

Lunch: Leftover ham salad w/crackers (finish it up) - Recipe from Linda's Busy Kitchen

Dinner: No recipe for this. Tilapia w/creamy shrimp sauce served over orzo; tomato and feta salad with a simple vinaigrette
The tilapia will be pan seared, seasoned with lemon pepper. The sauce - add a little butter, shallot, then white wine, broth, a splash of cream and baby shrimp. Finish with parsley and a squeeze of lemon.

I did make it to the store last night and was able to get my 2 chickens and also some very lean ground beef both on sale at whole foods. Many of their things are very expensive, but around here their meat prices are often very good compared to the other grocery stores. Usually the raw meats cost the same as the regular stores, and often I have more choices and great sales. Tonight I have a meatloaf in the oven, which I will serve with mashed potatoes, corn and gravy.

Sounds good HF, I will have to take a look next time I head that way. I have a local butcher which I love to use for specialty cuts, grinds, etc; but they can be pricey too. For a while I was grinding my own meat which was really good. Not difficult either; but a bit messy to haul out my big mixer and grinder. But, really cost saving if you buy large cuts on sale.

Happy Monday to All!

Another warm and sunny day, but rain is on the way! We can surely use it. I just planted my spring crop and they would love a little rain.

Today's Cooking ...

Lady #4: Dropped off her dinner early this am
Ladies #1 and #2: Out w/friends, so I get a day off

Me: g/f unexpectedly came over last night (needed a sympathetic ear), so my fish dinner got moved to tonight. Instead, I threw in a couple of small pizzas and made a salad.

Pan seared tilapia; topped w/creamy wine and shrimp sauce served over orzo; tomato feta salad w/some leftover balsamic dressing I made this past week, and needs to be used up.

Morning Everyone!

A nice rainy (no storms), cool, and very windy morning. NO complaints however - we need it.

Dinner: Chicken and cheese ravioli with sauteed mushrooms and onions in chicken broth. Cucumber salad, maybe with sour cream. Not sure, depends on what I feel like. I have been trying to cut back a little since I had a little cream in my sauce last night; I figured I would go lighter tonight.
