Chinese Dinner ... it was so so. Tried a placed that had closed and reopened, it used to be our favorite place. It got rave reviews - for Chinese that is. It closed, and now the son re-opened it.

I base my review on 2 things, good egg roll; and good lomein.
Well, the lomein was delicious, so was the egg foo yung. Me and my g/f agreed on that. We ordered a spicy beef. NOT good; NOT spicy enough, and way way way too many onions. We also got a surprise dish we didn't even order. Beef with broccoli and mushrooms; that was quite good, but nothing special. I could easily make that.
Then, we ordered a small container of fried rice. Terrible, it was more like rice pilaf. I could even find the egg or soy. I think, I will freeze it, and then try to refry it and see what I can do.
Now, the egg rolls - an absolute MUST for me. Terrible. Over cooked, the filling had a little pink tint to it; not rancid or anything, just not the good fresh flavor. The hot mustard was NOT hot enough; and the duck sauce was pale pink, and awful. They were packaged sauces, but horrible. Rave reviews, maybe for some, but not for us. We ate, and it wasn't horrible, just not what we are used to. Also, 1 small container of rice for 3 dishes. Crazy.

So, we split up the food; and we both have enough for 2 meals. Some is going in the freezer; some for dinner tomorrow night.

Morning ...

Well, spent 1 hour at a coffee shop on line, but didn't remember any of my passwords, but got "actual work" done, the stuff I get paid for.

Now, back home and on my backup computer; but, each page takes like 5 minutes to load. Facebook seems to be the only program that is working well. I did get a couple of recipes posted, that seemed to work well; everything else is just creeping. I feel helpless.

Today's Cooking ...

Lady #4: 3 meals to be made and delivered Mon am
- Broccoli chicken pasta casserole - It's almost like a mac and cheese, but much healthier (made with broth vs cream; it also has mushrooms, and a mix of cheese, including goat cheese. And a panko crumb topping); garden salad
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/crock- ... laden-6486; spaetzle; and pickled cucumber salad
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/white- ... chard-9130; http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/bread- ... rolls-8678; ham salad

Me: Out - trying a new Mexican place where a friend works for an early dinner; they have a Sunday special. Choose 4 main items, 2 sides, and dessert for only 8.50; and, there is 2/1 on beer and wine. Hours are 2-6. Sounds like a deal. You pay that for a burger and fries these days. My g/f said, I could probably get something other than dessert if I wanted. However, if they have flan or something similar, I would get that.

Pork roast is slow cooking right now. I'll have pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. I haven't even thought about the sides at this point. It'll probably be cole slaw!

I'm going to try to salvage that awful curried chicken somehow, since there's a ton of it left. Not entirely sure how to combat overwhelming curry taste, though. Maybe some salsa? Hot sauce? More Greek yogurt? I'm kind of stuck between not wanting to waste any more money on it and wanting to make something edible because I've already wasted so much. :?

Edit:
I ended up adding more tomato paste, more Greek yogurt, and a bunch of Cajun Power garlic pepper sauce. Meh. At least we ate enough of it I don't feel quite so bad about throwing the rest out when the trash goes out tonight.

Felix, I just hate when that happens. I have made a few stinkers over the years. Things that have ingredients you normally use, but for some reason, the dish is just awful, hard to fix it for your family to eat it. Food so expensive nowadays, it is hard to just throw it out. I personally have only tried gumbo one time and hated it. Spent all day making it, and my family just hated it, the seasoning was just gross. Tried to fix it and there was no fixing it. Threw out a huge pot of it. Dogs wouldn't even eat it. We got the seasoning from my boss, he is cajun. It is his families seasonings, (packaged for sale), with recipe. HATED IT. Had to lie when I went to work about how good it was.

We had chili tonight. We are having a cold spell in MN. Low this morning was 44°. Its nice now, like 66°. Windows open and its lovely. Chili hit the spot. Really good!

Morning Everyone,

Well, I have up and running; but lost tons of data, emails etc. Will have my other computer back today. Reloading programs, setting up all my passwords again, etc. At least I got this one working enough to post without it freezing, and crashing every 10 minutes. Apparently, a virus in an email is what caused all this. Most of my emails are gone too! What a mess.

So, yesterday, I did cook ...
Lady #4: 3 meals to be made and delivered today
- Broccoli chicken pasta casserole (no soup) - It's almost like a mac and cheese, but much healthier (made with broth vs cream; it also has mushrooms, and a mix of cheese, including goat cheese for a little tang. And a panko crumb topping); garden salad
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/crock- ... laden-6486; spaetzle; and pickled cucumber salad
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/white- ... chard-9130; http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/bread- ... rolls-8678; ham salad

They offer 2 bean sides; a black bean side or refried, I got black beans. They also offer a fiesta white rice or yellow rice. I enjoy their dishes. You can also get a salad, or Mexican slaw. They are a Mexican / Tex Mex place. Anyways, delish.
Some of the rice and beans I brought home to freeze; the portions were gigantic. I brought the 1 enchilada and the dessert and dropped it off at my friend house. He was happy. I had a chicken enchilada, fish taco; and, beef chimichanga I think that is what it was.

Today's Dinner ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Flatbread pizzas with prosciutto, arugula, red onion, and mozz; chilled cantaloupe soup; fresh berries with a lemon curd topping

Me: Leftover Chinese (the spicy beef), so maybe a small salad on the side. The rest of the chinese went into the freezer.

Yesterday I made #recipe10222 and #recipe5567, and this morning I put #recipe4677 in the crock pot, using boneless pork shoulder ribs.
