"These aren't your yeast risen type cinnamon rolls so it takes very little time to prepare and bake. The end result is still very delicious. Use your favourite glaze on these and this is a small batch recipe - makes only 4 rolls."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the oven to 350 F and grease an 8 inch square or round pan.

Step 2

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter (in the microwave or over low heat in a saucepan) and then combine it with the sour cream and milk. Set aside.

Step 3

In another bowl add the brown sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.

Step 4

Dice remaining 1 tablespoon of the butter into small cubes and rub it into the flour mixture until it looks like coarse sand.

Step 5

Pour the sour cream mixture over the flour and stir until just combined. Set aside while you prepare the filling.

Step 6

In a small bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon and butter until it forms a smooth paste. Set aside while you roll out the dough.

Step 7

Lightly flour a work surface and turn out the dough. Press it into a rough square that is 1/4-inch thick.

Step 8

Spread the filling evenly over the dough. Carefully roll the dough into a log then slice into 4 rolls.

Step 9

Place the rolls into the prepared cake pan leaving a little room between the rolls for them to expand while baking.

Step 10

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown, puffed, and spring back when gently pressed in the center.

Step 11

Cool for 5 minutes then take the rolls out of the pan - can lift them out with a spatula or simply turn out onto a plate and flip over before frosting.

Step 12

Make your favourite cinnamon bun frosting or glaze and spread over the top while still warm.

Step 13

Serve warm or at room temperature.

I had company coming and wanted something special to offer when she came to visit. These rolls really hit the spott, and we really loved them. I added crushed walnuts into the filling and topped with a strawberry glaze. Just delish! Will definitely make again and again. Thank you for sharing with us Roxanne! Linda
