Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Using a hand mixer cream together the softened butter and sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Add the orange and vanilla extracts along with the egg and mix to combine.

Step 2

In another medium mixing bowl add the flour and baking powder stirring together lightly. Slowly add dry mixture to wet mixture and stir together well. Add chopped pecans and blend together.

Step 3

Using an ungreased cookie sheet drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough. Bake cookies until golden brown or about 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and let cookies cool for 10-12 minutes or until no longer hot to handle.

Step 4

Place semisweet chocolate morsels in a microwavable bowl and set microwave on high for 1 minute. Do keep an eye on this and stir after 30 seconds. Stir melted chocolate and dip only the tops of the cookies into chocolate. Lay dipped cookies on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper and let set. Store in airtight container.

Instead of using orange extract I used a fresh squeezed orange. The flavor is fantastic! I just sampled my first one straight from the oven, and it won't be my last!
