Step 1

Heat oil or fat 3-4 inches deep in fryer or pot to 375°F.

Step 2

Combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in bowl.

Add oil, buttermilk, and egg, beat till smooth.
