"This is a very quick and easy way to store your herbs for using at a later date. I have given a way to freeze with oil and also water. After they have frozen ~ pack the cubes into marked zip lock bags to store in the freezer. Just pop one or 2 out to use in your cooking as you need, or thaw and drain for salads or pasta's if needed. I find using a larger silicone ice cub tray is easier for removal, and a pair of herb scissors make light work in chopping the herbs. Note ~ Any herbs can be prepared this way. Store the frozen herbs in the freezer for up to 6 months"

Original is 12 servings

Step by Step Method

Herb Cubes Olive Oil

Step 1

Wash and pat the herbs dry with a paper towel.

Step 2

Chop or mince the herbs and pack 1-2 teaspoons of herbs into an ice cube tray or silicone ice cube tray or until each cube is 3/4 full of herbs. (How many herbs will depend on the size of the cubes tray used).

Step 3

Pour olive oil over to cover the herb and fill up the ice cube. Push any herbs down using a fork until they are all covered with the oil.

Step 4

Place the ice cube tray into the freezer for about 8 hours or until the cubes are solid, remove the herb cubes from the tray and store into marked and dated zip lock bag's and place back into freezer.

What a neat idea! I made the olive oil ones using rosemary, chives and oregano and plan on using them for many things -- stews, spaghetti sauce, eggs, just about anything I think they will be wonderful in. Thanks for sharing!
