Step by Step Method
Step 1
Grate the Parmesan cheese and set it aside to allow it to get to room temperature.
Step 2
Fry bacon in a large skillet with high sides, remove from skillet, then chop.
Step 3
Put 1 tablespoon of the butter in with bacon grease, unless there's too much bacon grease. Then spoon some of it off, so it's not swimming in grease. Add onion and peppers to skillet in bacon grease and saute till tender. Then add garlic and herbs and spices. Cook one minute.
Step 4
Add bacon back into skillet
Step 5
Add the chicken broth. Slowly add the milk, stirring as you do so. Bring to a boil.
Step 6
Add the pasta noodles. You can break them in half for a better fit. Reduce heat to medium-low.
Step 7
Let the pasta simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the noodles don't stick together. If it is getting too thick, just add a little more hot water and stir. Reduce heat to low.
Step 8
Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the warm pasta and toss to coat.
Step 9
Gradually sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese, stirring as you do so, until smooth and well-combined.
Step 10
Sprinkle with fresh basil and serve with Garlic Bread with Cheese!
