Waffles: Quest for Perfect Waffle Recipe
Post
by CanadianGuy » Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:22 pm
I've been trying different waffle recipes in search of the perfect one. There's 2 perfect waffle recipes for me.
1. The best of all time. Perfectly light, fluffy, and savory with a touch of crispiness.
2. Conveniently perfect. Which means no separating eggs & stiffening the whites, no sour dough I have to make ahead of time, no buttermilk which I never have.
If you'd like to join me in discovering the perfect waffle, I have 2 questions for you.
1. What's your idea of a perfect waffle recipe?
2. What waffle recipes do you recommend?

Hi, You many want to have a look at
https://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/waffl ... ffles-1973 I rarely have buttermilk on hand but easily subbed by adding vinegar to the milk, while well beaten eggs are asked for in this recipe I think you may want to try my grandma B's recipe. She was an awesome cook and said this old recipe made the best ever waffles and have to say I agree.

Now thinking I must pick up some lush strawberries and whipping cream!

Hi Gerry. I did try your Grandma B's
Best Ever Waffles. I have to agree, they're the best easy waffles I've made. I blend the eggs in a blender so they're pretty frothy. Halved the recipe and got 4 full waffles on my regular size Belgian waffle maker.

That's a great looking waffle!! That is quite the challenge you listed.... I did an advanced search with the word waffle in the "keywords" box and entered, eggs, buttermilk and sour dough in the "not these ingredients" box. It did not turn up any waffle recipes without those ingredients....
I never buy buttermilk, I do the same as Gerry mentioned, a little vinegar in milk works great!

I buy buttermilk sometimes but mostly we are out when I want to use some so I add lemon juice to milk and in our case the milk is using skim milk and it works.
