Pipkin's and Findlay are not that close. I get down near Pipkin's about once a month. I don't generally get down near Findlay market unless I make a special trip.Bergy wrote:Sue are all three markets within your area? Love the photos
The stunning thing I want to show you is how many farm markets "with permanent structures" are in this area (these are different from the pop-up farm markets in shopping centers, which we have as well).
So here is a map=

I have never been to them all. LOL
We will stop at ones further away if we have other business there or if we are out antiquing, etc. It's good to carry an ice chest in the trunk.
Besides what you see, there are so many wonderful places that aren't in business anymore- I figure either the owners passed away and the kids no longer wanted the family business. or the farm sold out the land to developers.
Around here, new subdivisions pop up like weeds. Where I remember farm fields when we moved up here, it's now suburbia, and the Dayton-Cincinnati corridor (as it's called) is filling up fast.
I think the markets here are a phenomenon, and I hardly ever get to the ones they set up in the parking lots (not on the map) because I can't keep up with all of them. I like the ones open all day, every day.
This is Johnny Appleseed country- and I think it's why all these places exist. Where there are apples, there are also tomatoes, corn and everything else.
I love love love the markets, but Ohio is still as boring as all get out.

Derf I think we went to DeMilles one time when you were up - It's the one with the animals and they are famous for their corn. It's not ready until 1 August weekend.
Re: FARMER'S MARKET AND HOME GARDEN EVENT
I love picking cherries. There used to be a place out towards Xenia that had tart cherries. They shut down years ago. I hate making cherry orders at the markets- most of those are shipped out of Michigan and by the time they get here they aren't good for preserves. Ok for freezing or pies, but they will not gel.Engrossed wrote:

Be careful in those 100 degree temps, even if it is low humidity.
