Lemonade Lemons

Post by ImPat » Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:55 pm

Anyone have any ideas for this fruit (just been given 1/2 dozen of them), they very much look like a mandarin (orange puckery skin) but have a bitter taste with a slight sweet under note but I could only eat about 3/4 of one and the DH couldn't get through 1 segment to sour for his liking but I tend to prefer savour, hot and sour foods than sweet.

They are very similar looking to these but thinking of trying something different than making lemonade.

Love the sound of the muffins but instead of pastry flour could I used plain flour (all purpose flour) as I have never seen pastry flour on the shelves here but will have look when I next go shopping. Just had a quick look at your recipes and typed in lemon in the search bar and a heap of interesting recipes came up will have to have a closer look at a few.

I don't see why you couldn't. Pastry flour (or cake flour as it's sometimes called) is just all purpose flour mixed with corn starch. For every cup of all purpose flour you use, remove 2 tablespoons of the flour and add 2 tablespoons of corn starch. Then sift them together 5 or 6 times with a flour sifter so it gets light and fluffy. If you don't have a flour sifter, use a whisk, but you'll have to whisk it heavily for at least 3 minutes. Hope this helps.
