What is your favorite thing to bring when you are going to someone's house for Thanksgiving, that is different and utterly delicious?

well I'm boring I always bring a box of chocolates

Boy ... If they don't ask for food. I don't bring any. Nothing worse when I have a party and say I don't need anything (food wise and they bring a store bought chocolate cake or a pre-made shrimp ring. I'm a bit controlling I guess.

But I will always suggest wine or a specialty drink and that seems to go over well. I have also have friends that may make a special preserved or canned item or something they give to the host as a gift which I enjoy. Like a cranberry, jalapeno jelly. Or a unique salsa or something homemade and unique. Something just for the hosts.

For food, it depends on what the host wants. I never bring something unless they tell me. That really bothers me when people show up with something that just doesn't go with what you have planned.

Now, for those people who just say bring a dish - I HATE that, but I would probably bring my bourbon maple roasted butternut squash (cubed, NOT THE pureed stuff) topped with caramelized pecans.

Or, my roasted pear salad with onions, cranberries, and pecans.

And if they didn't mind soup. I love my apple roasted chestnut soup.

My niece asked me over for Thanksgiving and I need to bring a side dish... I am thinking Corn Pudding... It is something my family has never had and I think they would love it... I love your ideas though, even your chocolates Kit
