"These are goooood. The filling is extra fluffy and delicious--it is not a sugary filling. The pies are chocolatey and soft. I wrap them in individual baggies and freeze them so you can take out a few at a time."

Step 1

WHOOPIE PIES: Mix the Crisco, sugar, and egg till fluffy; slowly add the milk and vanilla and mix well.

Step 2

Add flour, cocoa, soda, and salt; beat well.

Step 3

Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet; bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

Step 4

FILLING: Using a jar for a shaker, put in the flour and milk and shake well; place in a saucepan and cook SLOWLY over medium heat till very thick and smooth; cool.

Step 5

In an electric mixer put the crisco, sugar, and vanilla and beat 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Add the cooled paste and beat for another 5 minutes till very light and fluffy; then turn the mixer on high and beat a couple more minutes (it is worth it).

Step 7

Fill the pies and put into baggies.

Love them!!! They are great little cake desserts and my grandchildren went nuts over them. They are moist and the filling is divine. I did add peanut butter to half the filling and they are awesome too! Added to my Favorites to enjoy many more times!!

Love these above others I have tried. The cakes are moist and yummy and the filling is great because it isn't sickeningly sweet, which is important for me and my family. Great snack for pot lucks, and great anytime at home!

Everyone dug into these yummy chocolaty and creamy filled little cakes. The filling was so delicious. The kids especially loved them so I am happy I made a double batch for the Super Bowl!
