"These are goooood. The filling is extra fluffy and delicious--it is not a sugary filling. The pies are chocolatey and soft. I wrap them in individual baggies and freeze them so you can take out a few at a time."

Step 1

WHOOPIE PIES: Mix the Crisco, sugar, and egg till fluffy; slowly add the milk and vanilla and mix well.

Step 2

Add flour, cocoa, soda, and salt; beat well.

Step 3

Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet; bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

Step 4

FILLING: Using a jar for a shaker, put in the flour and milk and shake well; place in a saucepan and cook SLOWLY over medium heat till very thick and smooth; cool.

Step 5

In an electric mixer put the crisco, sugar, and vanilla and beat 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Add the cooled paste and beat for another 5 minutes till very light and fluffy; then turn the mixer on high and beat a couple more minutes (it is worth it).

Step 7

Fill the pies and put into baggies.

These little pies make such a great treat. My grandchildren LOVED them!! They were so happy to go home with a few. I think I will make these for Halloween and color the filling. They will put a smile on everyones face, including my hubs!

We love these yummy little filled cakes! So good for a snack anytime. I made them for my grandson's birthday party. They were great served with vanilla and chocolate Hoodsie cups. Not as messy as cake and ice cream. We love them!
