In botanical terms, that's true.

But in culinary terms, the tomato IS a VEGETABLE. That's how it's used.
It's the same part of the plant as a pepper. In fact, in botanical terms, many of the vegetables we use are technically fruits. Why single the poor tomato out? If a pepper or a zucchini (both botanically fruits) are called vegetables, the tomato should be, too.

True ... True. I just had to bring it up. But yes, I have NEVER understood why it is classified as a fruit. Totally agree

I know technically tomatoes are a fruit, but I don't eat them that way very often. I don't think many of us do. Usually its a savory dish we enjoy them in, not a sweet dish. So for this question, we can categorize them as a veggie. :D
Shrooms too! I love mushrooms. Especially morels. I can't hardly wait for spring! Trudging through the woods in search of these wonderful little finds! So darn good!

Sue, I adore eggplant too. I don't know which I love more, fried eggplant or fried zucchini. I love both, often making both of them when I served them fried. I usually have an abundance of zucchini, so I fry that up too when I make fried eggplant.
And to the people who consider corn a grain, well technically it is, but I still consider it a veggie too. :D

True True.

Morels are scrumptious!! When I lived in MI, we used to go out and get them. Delicious! I have a friend who goes up every year and he usually brings me back a bag of them. They are delicious.
