Morning,

Dissie I am so sorry that it is so cold where you are. Today is 31F with cloud. I have watered & feed the outside animals. It has not been my best week!

Tonight I will serve Church's brussel soup with all the trimmings.

Nin, I had my kale soup last night ... just comfort food. That and bread. Always good when it is chilly out.

Remember kitty disaster? Well, got my table up with the deal from Pier 1 Imports, 40.00 and it looks good again ... minus my platter.

And you know our kids ... well, a 1 hr talk with DS, actually a good talk, and we are going shopping tomorrow. Miracles do happen g/f.

Good Morning all! I have an egg bake in the oven.

Dinner? I was going to make chicken, but its not defrosted yet. So, of course I am letting that easily deter me! I might throw it in the crockpot with some rice and call it dinner!

Sorry you are hating the cold Dissie. :(

My alarm goes off every morning at 4:45am so you are never alone that early Kim! I'm 99% sure that our Walmart's aren't open 24 hours in my neck of the woods. I know some are, I've seen them, just not around here.

Heather, I just got my act together this past week. On Sunday I spent the enitre day in the kitchen baking and I am 90% I still have two more items to make. Oh, maybe three. I always do that to myself! :) Then I will mail packages out on Monday. I'm going to the post office late and using the automated system in the lobby to avoid crowds. I have small packages of baked goods and framed pictures is all this year so that will work out perfectly. I don't need to hand anything over the counter.

Also managed to do some online shopping and hit the stores for stocking stuffers. Not much under the tree this year due to finances but stocking stuffers are our favorite part of the holiday so that isn't changing this year.

Dinner will be the stir fry I didn't think I'd get to last night. I was out shopping and my husband went and got KFC. The poor soul doesn't know how to cook a thing. He usually does pizza but wanted something different. I haven't had KFC in probably 15 years. For as awful as it is for you it wasn't as bad tasting as I remember it to be.

Church, I was up at 5am! But I wasn't onilne, and I was just heading to bed.

The heat wave continues! 40F and sunny today, then tomorrow the rain hits as the temperature starts dropping, so we're supposed to have snow again soon. I'll take it for now.

I have a hockey game tonight, so dinner will probably be a drive-through on my way home. Although there are plenty of leftovers...mom blew up at me yesterday and refused to eat dinner, and hasn't talked to or spoken to me since (I'm hoping she's still driving me to work, but I can't get her to confirm or deny at this point - really hope she tells me if she isn't soon enough that I can make alternative plans), so the refrigerator is full of leftover mayonnaise catfish, leftover pot roast, and leftover chicken stir-fry.

BF heated up some frozen pizza and then I also had some ice cream for dessert as my head was aching. I have been sick from bad allergies so much this season, and today just had to lie down. I was feeling terrible at the store today, came home and just went to bed. Eyes, head, nose, throat - everything feels puffy and itchy. The allergy meds are great and do wonders, but they still don't make me feel great.

Feeling slightly better after napping.

The chicken never made it into the crockpot either....

We just heated up some leftover egg bake when we got in. I didn't use a recipe, just threw things together. Put shredded potatoes in the bottom of a 9x13 pan and baked at 400 for 20 minutes, then added 10 eggs mixed with cheese, sauteed onions, bacon, bell peppers and jalepeno's. Baked another 30 minutes and it was perfect! I should write it down! It was delicious.

Tomorrow I am making Bea's potatoes, but adding ham. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/potato ... e-crockpot (Crockpot)
Chicken will wait until Sunday...its still half froze.

I am physically tired tonight, but still geared up from work, so doubt sleep will come anytime soon. It's mandatory that everyone works tomorrow...So I have one more day this week. :( It's overtime, so that makes it less painful. ;) Then I have a few friends coming over for food and drinks. Going to be a late night! We don't even get off until 10 or 11 pm depending on how long we run tomorrow.

I finally have gotten over my waking up at 6 am, no matter how late I went to bed! Made for some exhausting days. Wonder what was up with that? I did that for like 2 weeks. Sometimes not making it to sleep until 2 or 3 am, but at 6 or around there, wide awake and making coffee..... I slept in until 9 am today! :D

I am also going to visit my Dad on Sunday, so tomorrow morning, I am making some cookies and fudge to bring to him. Tomorrow is going to be a full day! :o

No rest for the weary!

Morning everyone!

Dis, I rarely fall asleep before 1 or 2 and it seems, 3:30 is the magic time for me; I have to watch TV for an hour and then sometimes I can fall asleep for another hour. But, once the sun is up. That's it for me. 4-5 hrs is tops for me most nights. Glad you figured out how to sleep in :)

Felix, enjoy the warmth while you have it; and HF, feel better. Nin, you got a couple of warm days and some rain before the snow comes on Tues ... your weather update, lol.

My Party Today ...
Well, it is my boss's work party, so he paid for everything; but his house is under construction and I am the most centrally located, and I can cook, lol. It is pretty fancy; but I did have a friend come in and clean (my boss paid); also, I have help today decorating and putting up the rental buffet table, round table, 10 chairs, white dishes, glasses, flatware, 3 linens + napkins. Serving platters will be mine.We are at 18 maybe 20. Appies start at 5, dinner 6, etc.

At my house, it is casual, TV on, sports, etc. Whatever, anyone wants. Outside on the porch, by the grill, you name it.

So, picked up 3 bunches of flowers yesterday and made 5 small vases of flowers. I hate tall fancy arrangements; TOO TALL you can't see anyone. 3 of the co-workers are coming over at 10 to help decorate, set up, etc. NO fancy crystal, very basic white, green linens, classic glasses, crafts of wine with dinner. Crafts of 2 martinis as our sig cocktail to start; and warm spiced brandy to finish.

Cats are LOCKED in the bedroom with cat box, food and water, TOO BAD kitties, NO human interaction tonight!

Menu: (I already have some of it prepared and done)

Appies
A trio of "Red Hot Spiced Grilled Jumbo Shrimp," a "Mustard and Honey Seared Giant Sea Scallop," and "Sashimi Tuna with a Wasabi Vinaigrette." Next, "Grilled Oysters with a Champagne Cream Sauce." "Rosemary and Thyme Toasted Walnuts," and a "Creamy Cheesy Corn Fondu," with an assortment of breads.

Main
"Whole Beef Tenderloin, with a Brandy Sauce," "Duchess Potatoes, with Truffle Butter," "Rosemary Roasted Cherry Tomatoes on the Vine." And to start, a small salad of "Baby Greens topped with 3 Roasted Asparagus Spears, Poached Quail Egg, and Parmesan Shavings."

Dessert
By Request ... these decadently rich butterscotch brownies (not for me, but requested)
The main dessert is a "Chocolate Mint Pie, made with Goidiva :)." Frozen, with whipped topping and chocolate shavings and fresh crystallized mint. "Spiced Warm Brandy Cocktails."

And then, everyone gets to take home my "Hard Christmas Candy." Cinnamon and Mint flavors.

-----------------------------------------
My sons shopping day is tomorrow for presents, so a busy weekend.

My mother has not spoken to me or looked at me since Thursday. You can cut the tension in my house with a butter knife, and I honestly have no idea what the problem is (you know, since she won't talk to me). I'll be reheating leftover pot roast for dinner, but I have no idea if she'll deign to join me or if we'll just keep walking around the house as if the other one does not exist.

The rain started today, as promised. It's currently 40F, and they're not sure exactly when (or if) it'll change to snow.

Edit:
Apparently mom is still choosing to act as if I don't exist. Rather than eating anything I heated up, or heating up her own leftovers, she has chosen to make herself a can of soup for dinner. That's fine...I had a huge bowl of chopped pot roast and vegetables over biscuits, smothered in gravy, and it was fine.

Morning All, yes 4am. Why isn't everyone else up? lol

Felix, sorry about Mom; but, it sounds like you had a nice dinner.
I hope everyone is getting their Christmas chores done ;)

Well, my dinner party was a hit; everyone had a great time, relaxing, the food all turned out good. The only leftovers is 2 small pieces of steak, 1 person didn't eat salad; and 1/2 cup of fondu. I guess I'll have the salad for lunch today. The guys that helped me did so well and were a huge help; but, it was so funny to watch them clean, decorate, and food shopping ... well, they did pretty good.

Lots of cleaning, shopping with my son, then wrapping up what he picks out. A few odds and ends to work on, but nothing too special.

Dinner ...
I think I ate enough yesterday, so I'm just having some of my Sausage, Kale, and Potato soup from the other night; bread from the ABM ... maybe a grilled cheese sandwich. Something easy tonight.
