Process the triscuits fine, then soak a bit to make soft, then add.

I think it would work good. The only thing, not enough soft moisture, like the bread or the oats. Would have to sub with a moist ingredient. More egg; ricotta, something?

As much as triscuits cost, I wouldn't be using them in a meatloaf! ;)

Just found this question, so I'm late to the party. I always used bread crumbs to make my meatloaf, until one day when I had the onions all chopped, and all of whatever else I was going to add ready, and when I reached for the breadcrumbs they weren't there... I did have some oatmeal, however, and I figured I'd give it a try. It worked great, and DH and I actually prefer it to plain breadcrumbs. It doesn't change the flavor of the meatloaf, but it certainly would seem to me to be a bit more nutritious than bread crumbs.

I don't cook my meatloaf in a loaf pan (where on earth would the fat go?), but I form mine into a loaf shape and cook it using a baking pan with a relatively solid rack with holes in it.

My mother used to lay strips of bacon over the top of her meatloaf to keep it from splitting, and I just started to do that too. Not only does it work, but it adds flavor. DH has loved that addition.

90% of the time, I free form mine. I do have a meatloaf pan (a gift) with a slotted bottom, so it doesn't sit in grease. Great for presentation. But I prefer a free formed one.

I have done bacon too, and yes, it does add flavor.

I place it on my broiler pan and it works wonderfully. I usually make two small ones on the broiler pan for faster cooking.
