What WAS on your Plate & WHAT'S for Dinner Tonight 2/27

SATURDAY!!! So, What's Up With Everyone Today?
Anyone planning a Oscar Party? Anyone got special plans?

Well, chilly this am 40ish. No market today ... I got to use up what I have; but, I did stop at the Amish market yesterday for just a couple of items.

Tonight, my friend who didn't make a movie last night is coming tonight. I have frozen homemade beef pot pies in the freezer. A big salad with fresh garden greens; and, he has a sweet tooth --- why I keep ice cream on hand. Caramel sauce, nuts, and whipped cream --- Ready Whip, the real stuff ain't bad.

Oscar Night for me ... NOPE, not doing anything. I will DVR it!

I'm making Egg Drop Soup tonight :)

4 cups organic chicken stock or homemade chicken stock
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch of sugar
Pinch white pepper
5 drops yellow food coloring or large pinch of turmeric powder(optional)
¼ cup cornstarch mixed with ½ cup water
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 scallion, chopped
1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped (optional)

Bring the chicken stock to a simmer in a medium-sized soup pot. Stir in the sesame oil, salt, sugar, and white pepper. Add in 5 drops of yellow food coloring, if using. The yellow food coloring gives the soup that rich restaurant-style yellow color but it is, of course, optional. Taste the soup, and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Tonight it's Italian turkey sausage sandwiches and orzo mixed with Kittencal's Roasted Red Pepper Pesto with Feta, except I used grated parm instead of feta, since it's lower in potassium. Very tasty!

Ellie, that chicken dish looks wonder.
KitchenW, love love egg drop soup. Sometimes when I work a midnight shift; I will make a small bowl. It's warming and delicious, and really easy.
It seems like a cauliflower night :) and Kittens RPP is delicious.
