I know what they're predicting, but around here we just call that "winter". ;) Mostly what people are going on about that I've seen is the cold snap we've had the last couple of days, and how it means "summer is over!!!!!". Or my personal favourite, "We skipped summer and went straight to fall!" Apparently they don't have access to a weather forecast.[/quote]

I agree with you Felix. My 81 yr. old neighbor has made similar comments. I'm just thinking "surely you have been around long enough to have seen fickle weather before". These "spells" just happen periodically. Often, I think she just repeatedly makes such observation, and has to comment just to hear her head rattle :? :?

Morning!

I just think the weather has just been wacky all around the country the last couple of years!

Ladies #1 and #2: Game/Card Night - Artichoke stuffed mushrooms; endive leaves stuffed with an olive salad; tomatoes stuffed with goat cheese and herbs; chicken Caesar salad subs; panna cotta with berries
(Artichoke stuffing done; olive salad done; and Caesar dressing done. The rest, a quick put together, and take over to the ladies)

Me and 2 Poker Friends: Onion burger (new recipe) a ground beef patty mixed w/Campbells French onion soup, topped with a creamy horseradish mayo sauce, crunchy fried onions, swiss cheese and lettuce; grilled corn on the cob; watermelon (3 extra burgers I will freeze)

Exactly! We dipped down below 70 for a couple of days, and now we're back to normal. OMG, the sky is falling! =))

My mother left this morning and won't be back until tomorrow evening, so I have no idea what I'm eating. I may splurge and get myself a bunch of deli salads when I run to the grocery store later, because while I love eating a bunch of carbs when she's not home, I also love not cooking. :D

Morning and Happy Saturday!

Well, a busy day here. I am catering a mid day wedding tomorrow. My g/f and her son are helping me, however; so, it isn't too bad. There are only 30 people.

Today, the tent is going up, tables and chairs set. It is an extremely casual wedding. No photographer, no music, etc; so, very easy to prep for.
I will be putting the flowers together tomorrow; again, very simple mixed colors.
They are doing the same wedding in his home town in Seattle in 1 month; although, they have both lived here for 3 years. I guess lots of family up there who couldn't make it down.

So - me, my gf, and her son. Steak (freezer stash), mushroom, cheese quesadillas; onion rings; fruit. Probably add some salsa and sour cream. Just something easy later tonight; as we prep the food.

Lunch today was homemade pulled pork with homemade spicy BBQ sauce, loaded baked potato salad, coleslaw, veggie tray, and Texas caviar - went to a friend's son's graduation open house.

Dinner tonight is at my class reunion.  We're doing appetizer stations: potato skins, Swedish meatballs, boneless chicken wings, cheese and crackers, Buffalo chicken dip with tortillas, hummus and pita chips, BBQ meatballs, fruit platter, kielbasa and sauerkraut, stuffed mushrooms, spinach dip, vegetable platter, jalapeno poppers, pork slides, chips and dip, and "dessert". And alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol.

Dinner was margherita pizza on a homemade whole wheat crust, sprinkled with home-grown basil. On the side was a Caesar salad and mushrooms stuffed with a hot Italian meatball mix.

Last night was more fun than it had any right to be! A bunch of us even walked from the bar/restaurant where the reunion was over to the other bar for another couple of hours after it was over. :D

Dinner tonight is #recipe7083 (I'm using tilapia), with some Japanese Cucumber Salad (from the American Diabetes Association) and Watermelon & Feta Skewers (from the Loveless Cafe).

Edit:
I totally lied. My refrigerator is bursting at the hinges with leftovers and tonight the trash goes out, so all of that will happen at a later date.
