I wasn't pleased with the last Butterball I bought!! Since then, I will just buy the store brand. I live in NC, of course, and most of the nations turkeys are raised here, so the stores kinda have a reputation to uphold. I do like cooking a breast sometimes, and I just shop for sales. Of course I know that you said you got a "buy" on the Butterball, Kc. I'd likely buy another one if the deal was unbelievable ;)....but poach it for the meat.

Morning Everyone!

Deepster, it was tender and moist; but, just not that special. I usually stuff my bird with onions, orange, herbs etc; and that really gives it a nice flavor. I did do a herb butter under the skin, but ... bleh. Oh well, my son, took a bite and they liked it.

So much for a few days of leftovers. My son never liked green bean casserole - all of a sudden he loves it. I would of made more if I knew he would eat it.

Dinner plans ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Still have family in town, so nothing tonight. But, they did ask if I could make something for lunch tomorrow. Both families are going out to a local park, and want to take lunch. I'll drop it all off tonight, and they can just heat it up tomorrow.
http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/crock- ... iches-4856; they can take it right in the crock pot, and I'll buy some small hoagie rolls, so they are easy to eat. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/magica ... salad-4560; http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/lindas ... salad-6087; and, http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/no-bake-cookies-803

Me: I have just enough turkey, stuffing, and spuds left for dinner.

Don't panic when you see the December Thread. I just wanted to get a head start while I was thinking about it.

It is still Nov for 2 more days.

I rarely panic over the dinner thread. ;)

Tonight I'm back working, so I'll be having leftover tortilla casserole with guacamole, sour cream, black olives and salsa before I go in, and likely Thanksgiving leftovers when I get home.

Turkey Day dinner:
brined roasted turkey breast, brown sugar glazed ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, bread and celery stuffing, roasted parsnips, roasted carrots, roasted Brussels sprouts, corn pudding, waldorf salad, fried apples, cloverleaf rolls, cranberry sauce, meatballs, quiche Lorraine, home made sangria, pumpkin pie and Italian cream cake. Hopefully not forgetting anything there.
Today= had lunch at a Chinese restaurant. Haven't been hungry since then. If I do, I may make a turkey and ham sammich. :)

Morning Everyone!

Cool start this morning. Foggy, almost misty, low 50's and just not very nice. But supposed to be 80 today. A good day to get some Xmas stuff down and started. The water in our development finally came back on, after 9 hrs off. Main water line broke. Now we have to boil our water for 3 days.

I was able to get all the food done for Ladies #1 and #2 yesterday using bottled water; and dropped it off for their picnic today.

For me, the ham I planned to make on Thursday, but decided to hold off on. With a currant, dijon, brown sugar, and horseradish sauce. Leftover mashed potatoes, as potato cakes, w/sour cream and chives; and, either a salad or glazed carrots. Depends what I feel like.

Heat wave! The sun is shining, the snow is melting and dripping off the roof (without making icicles, even!), and the roads are almost melted clear. Predicted high for the day was 38, but we're sitting at 42 right now. I'm not looking at the forecast.

Working again tonight, so late lunch/early dinner will be what's left of the Thanksgiving leftovers (the corn casserole is ALL MINE!), and my late dinner will probably involve stopping at Checkers for some crack fries and a banana shake.

Kc, that sounds like a great dinner to me. I may buy a small ham this coming week as I can live on ham, cole slaw and sweet potatoes for several days. Glad you finally have water. Even with the boiling, the worst part is behind you.

Felix, the most appealing sounding part of your deal for me right now would the crack fries and shake. I haven't been to Checkers in years. Sounds great.

I have no idea what I'll do for dinner. It's going to be a "make do" night for me, but sometimes those turn out to be the best meals.

No snow left on the roof, but just took the little man out for a walk, and there are only patches left in the most protected areas. The slopes opened on Nov. 14 in these parts, and it's been cold enough for them to keep making snow every day....42 degrees out here, too.
