by CookerKat » Sat Oct 19, 2013 11:42 am
Hi everyone here at recipezazz!
I just joined here (I love this site!) can someone tell me what the
Like This Recipe is for on each recipe? do we click on that after we make it?
TIA!
Katie

I hope someone can tell us both. Near as I can see, it does absolutely nothing other than indicating that you "like" something, just as it does on Facebook when you click "like" on a post. If you make a recipe and actually do like it, it's better to rate and review it so the person who submitted the recipe gets feedback and it shows on the recipe that it is tried and true.

okay thank you Felix4067. I thought that we needed to click on it after we rated the recipe, soooo, if I view a recipe and like what I see I can click on it? is that correct?
thank you.

To the best of my knowledge, yes. Clicking "like" on a recipe just indicates that you approve of what you're seeing. It doesn't add the recipe to your cookbook, and it doesn't increase the rating of the recipe.

Right on Felix. When someone clicks on the "Like your recipe" it sends a notice to the poster that someone likes their recipe"
I guess that's nice but until they make it I tend to ignore it. It has nothing to do with your review of the recipe

Actually, hitting "like" on a post in Facebook does something, where this does not.
In Facebook liking a post spirals it back up to the top in the newsfeed, which is kind of like bumping a post in a talk forum, except that Facebook has some type of algorithm working that makes whether people see a post or not murky and complex.
Here it just lets people know you likeit, which for all I can tell, helps get rid of people making reviews that say things like "looks good!" or "going to try this soon!", iykwim. ;)

I think it's a really great feature I love it and use it to let someone know I have viewed there recipe, I also love receiving the Like notifications, I like to hear that people look at my recipes!

Absolutely, Sue. And if that is all the "like" does, it's worth it. We've all been to sites where 35 people comment on a recipe saying things like that, but nobody ever actually makes and reviews it.
