Our temp here is averaging 14C during the day....not 30C like you! And raining again today.
Enjoy your outside time today Gerry!

Sure enjoyed the rain yesterday! So far today, the sky looks promising for a nice day. We shall see.
Been using the wood cookstove to heat the main floor. There is nothing quite like wood heat...it penetrates to the bone! Which for us older folks is just what we need on a cold morning.

Been a very busy day trying to accomplish much of the outdoor before we see white on the ground. Another day I appreciated homemade soup from the freezer, today enjoyed cream of acorn soup. I have been wanting to make pasta topped with my parsley pesto, maybe get to it on the weekend. Tonight will check out that great sounding recipe of you recently made Patti.

Like you, we have been 'souping it' here for days now! LOLOL Last thing I want to do after a long day outside is cook. Love making soup once and eating several times! Sometimes I have either a sandwich, salad or garlic bread to go with.
Off early this morning after I take care of the pooches, to go the wood shed to split and stack for a few hours. Yesterday DH and I elevated the wood splitter so that I was not constantly bending over. LOL You know about 'old back', don't you, my hard working friend!

Your Lucille Clifton, nothing like the truth Patti. Seeing it is only 4 here this morning I did indoor chores then got the want to make recipes from your reviews as well as Mickey's Bisquick printed. Will get to them when the outdoor work settles down. Also found some refrigerator sweet pickled pepper recipes to try for my pepper crop. Obviously they thrived with the summer temperatures we had this summer. I suspect I will use my favorite ingredients gleaned from them.

A bright and sunny morning, looking to be a beautiful September day. It is amazing to see tomatoes once again needing picking, flowers and pots blooming here on the prairies this late in the season. The past few days have seen me bringing in saves and fall chores.

Great quotes Gerry! The first one made me laugh out loud!
Did 2 1/2 hours of splitting, stacking wood yesterday. Then I gathered all the fir bark and hauled it over to the covered entrance to the basement and stacked there for easy getting. Still have so much more to split and stack. But today...the Sabbath...I am resting. LOL Hope you do too!

Loved your Leo Tolstoy quote Patti “In the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you.” so much so I took his words to heart and spent two enjoyable hours watching our Saskatchewan curling team's final. Then hearing a threat of rain and frost saw me out digging potatoes and picking tomatoes til too dark to see. I think both of us need to stop and do a touch more looking around us!
While a little chilly we did not get frost last night, hoping it warms for time in the garden, meanwhile a roaster pan of tomatoes, garlic and maybe add green peppers for the freezer stash will be happening.
