HF, duct taping a tarpaulin around it is still much cheaper than buying a new grill. Remember there are always going to be things you will need to buy for your new home (existing curtains wrong size, etc.) and that tends to wipe out the cash really fast.

Bea, I hate unpacking. I get claustrophobic with a house full of shipping cartons. I do love to decorate, but boxes packed floor to ceiling make me uncomfortable. And something I hate more than that- having done military moves a number of times, cleaning my old home top to bottom before I can leave, then going to the new place and guess what? They left all their dirt as a housewarming gift for me. When we moved down to Florida on the base, when I got in there, I found dried bbq sauce all over the walls in the Florida room. Now, I am wondering, how exactly did the inspector miss that?

HF, glad you are getting the packing done. I put my grill in a plastic garbage bag. One I sat the grill in and one over the top. A little duck tape and presto. But, I can't live without my grill.

No rain yet, but very soon. It is on it's way, not too long.

Day off here, but I did about 3 hours of work last night on the computer; and another couple this am. So, I guess not a day off due to the rain. Just trying to catch up at home today.

Ewww, I'm the same Sue. I clean everything before I vacate. Nothing worst than moving all your clean stuff into a dirty place. I once was moving in at the same time soemone was moving out, what a disaster that was

Our last move was 26 years ago, kids would not pick up thier stuff so I took a snow shovel and big cardboard barrels into thier rooms and scooped it all up and dumped into the barrels, some of that is still in those barrels in the attic . Told wife that was going to be the last time we move , and it has been. What made it worse it was on my birthday. I Hate moving.

Hahaha, good way to pick up a bunch of toys, lol.....

This reminds me of when my daughter's room was a disaster and I asked her to clean it up. She would just pick up the odd thing and put it away, but never totally clean up her room. She was about 13 or 14 years old.
I got mad one day and went in there with a bunch of garbage bags and put everything that was laying around and tossed it all in 3 black garbage bags full.
I put it all at the curb for garbage pick up......

I still remember the look on her face when she went in her room and noticed all her stuff gone. She got all panicky and asked me where her stuff was. I pointed to all the bags at the curb and she went balistic    She was going through the bags crying and yelling and begged me to let her bring them back in.

I told her she could have it all back if she could show she could keep her room clean for 2 weeks and she did.
AND, her room was always spotless after that

She still brings it up every so often and laughs at how the neighbours where all coming out to see why she was crying and yelling.

I hate to say ... my sons room was always NEAT as a pin. A bit OCD I guess after me. I really am not OCD, but I do keep everything really neat and organized.

But, I have moved into 2 new houses, 1 apt, which I basically sterilized first, and painted my own colors; and then my Dads place after he passed. It was very clean, he was like me. But, I did repaint.

My son, he will leave cans and food around, which I hate. But ... otherwise, everything is perfectly clean. Strange

That sounds like a very good idea. I might try that! Thanks.

The story about the garbage bags made me chuckle. I told me dd something very similar. She has been spending nearly every day with her friends, since we won't be getting to see them after we move. I told her that her bedroom {aka disaster zone} and bathroom must be totally packed and cleaned thoroughly by this weekend. Anything she doesn't get packed up is going to get donated/tossed. I have had enough of her wandering off and not getting her packing done, so I put a limit on it. So far that seems to be working - she pulled everything out and threw it on the floor and made a ton of piles.

Today was a stressful day for me - I didn't get much done unless you count getting a headache and having a disagreement with my bf. We donated some things today at least, one less pile of stuff to deal with.

Happy hour. Now. my poker buddies, and a few others do happy hour most weeks. Nothing fancy, simple, don't spend much, order a few appies and split. Keep it easy.

Well, met my friends co-workers who wanted to come and went to a new place. Not again They loved it.

Us, Everyone was in suits and ties, very upscale, posh, yuppy, customers. Drinks. I could buy a pitcher for the cost of 2 bourbon and sodas. Appies looked fine; but they didn't want to eat. And the wait for food was like 45 min. I ate peanuts and chips with a very bad salsa.

Everyone talked about work - doctors, lawyers, brokers, etc.
Don't get me wrong. It isn't the profession, it is who the person is. Very uptight, arrogant, preppy, and just into themselves; no down time, no relaxing, no just having fun.

We left after 1 1/2 hours. My friends went home and stopped at Subway. I came home and heated up soup and a grilled cheese.
