That's true. If you are in a group and post from the group page, only group members will see that. If you share a post from your own FB page to a group page, only people that have permissions see that (i.e. your friends from your page or whichever thing it was set to). Otherwise a white box comes up and says "attachment unavailable".
FB is very individualized- people only see what you want them to see, and you also only see what you want to see. Things like games invites can be filtered out.
I know there is some meme going around where people say they retain copyright and it is "urban legend" as the meme is fake and doesn't apply to the tos at FB and neither does the disclaimer on the meme have any legal force. There is so much said about FB that isn't actually true--if people would just read the tos they would realize that.
The only really wonky thing that FB does as far as I can tell is that if you operate one of their "pages" they will prompt you to promote your post by paying money. But then their algorithm is set up not to show people the post you paid to show them. And as well, people aren't being shown posts they clicked "like" on and that's what they want to see. That has been going on for awhile now. But I won't pay them for their page reach. People seeing posts on a page on FB doesn't necessarily translate into page views on a website. Maybe a few, but it isn't very effective.
