Racr,
I just saw the post about your darling little grandson and I can only imagine what you are all going through. It is so sad. I do however know about the power of prayer and how it works, and I will be praying for complete recovery for your little grandson. Stay strong!
Big hugs to you and keep us updated on how things are going for you all. I know you will find the help that your grandson needs!
Linda

Engrossed wrote:So sad racr, and just after you got back in touch with them. You may try calling Loma Linda or another children's hospital, and talking to the social services department. They know of pretty much all of the different programs available for this sort of thing. Some hospitals even have their own charity like Kaiser, and I was able to get that for my Dad when he couldn't afford his cancer care there. I was able to get free expensive dental care for my son by finding out about a dental program for children under 5 by calling Loma Linda. I do wonder too if his children qualify for anything through the VA...
and last but certainly not least St. Jude just popped into my head...there is no cost to be treated there as far as I know:

Thanks, T! We've tried all of those. St Jude was the first call, Loma Linda second, then onto Children's Hospital in LA and OC. No one will take him without a referral from a neurosurgeon. The doc won't set up the referral because of their lack of insurance. No, on the VA. They cover the vet not the family. We'll try again today.

Dissie wrote:You are very welcome. I am sure you will get the help you need. I am just so upset that the DR treated you guys like that. Very sick child and wouldn't refer....I want to smack that DR. Especially after finding out he is a veteran. The VA wont help? Isn't that what they are there for? To help soldiers?
I'd like to smack the doc. She gave too much information and not enough information. She said that K may have had an infection while she was pregnant and that caused this condition. WHAT kind of doc tells a mother such a thing immediately after telling her that her child has a brain tumor? VA will help the vet not the family.

Thanks, Shapes & Linda. We'll keep making phone calls today. If they don't find some help today, I'm going to start calling radio and TV stations and any other place I can find to raise a fuss.

FINALLY able to get an appointment with a specialist for this little guy. It's two weeks off but that is better than the walls we had run into. Thanks for all of your positive thoughts and prayers. My prayer is that the tumor is really a "shadow" created by the fluid around the brain and not really a tumor at all. I know, wishful thinking.

Please know you are in my thoughts. Adding extra prayers for this beautiful little boy. I cannot believe anyone let alone doctors could be so heartless. How sad that financial gain comes before care and compassion, especially when his father is a verteran. Shame on them.
I am sure you feel the prayers directed your way. Ongoing prayes a given. Please keep us posted. (((hugs)))
