I crashed and burned. The two refrigerated batches of dough will remain in the refrigerator until Saturday. 26 dozen cookies is plenty for one night, especially since I didn't get started until almost 4pm. Plus, I have to work stupid early tomorrow for entirely too many hours, so I need a bit of rest.

The cherry pie filling bread comes from F.com. I make it as written, but then I also make it swapping out the cherry for blueberry and the pecans for almonds. Recipe

Edit:
There, I made up for it. All of my presents are wrapped and under the tree. I even got the ones wrapped that aren't for this Sunday. :)

Son of a... Image

So I mixed up the last batch of cookie dough this morning (coconut cashew), and had two dozen in the oven with another four dozen waiting their turn on cookie sheets when I realized I had NOT added the granulated sugar to the dough. Brown sugar I got, but it's supposed to be equal parts of both. You'd have to see the dough and know what happened yesterday to really understand. The coconut and cashews have to be kneaded into the dough. Yesterday at work someone took a chunk of my thumb away from me so I have this gauze and tape structure on my right thumb. I was wearing my LAST pair of latex gloves to knead the dough, and had already let them hit the trash.

But wait...tasted the dough, and while not as sweet as normal, still pretty darn good. Took the finished ones out of the oven and while they didn't brown quite as nicely, they look the same and appear to be the same texture. Tasted one and again...not as sweet, but still pretty darn good.

So I've made a new recipe! And they're healthier, since they have half the sugar!

I got some amazing bargains today at JC Penny! I had 2 coupons for $10 off any item, and with those and the 1/2 off sales, I found my SIL a beautiful $55 winter wrap and $25 silky scarf... total price for both ended up being $25!!!

Good for you! I'll bet they are delicious! But I would have been upset too! Sometimes it all works out after all! :D
Hope your thumb feels better today! Ouch!

So glad you ended up happy with the final product. I was about to say do a caramel drizzle over them to make up the sweetness but since you like as is, that's great!

Kizzi, glad you got such nice bargains!

I am DONE and DONE and DONE!!!

Well, ok...the dishes still need to be washed...

Presents wrapped and under the tree. House cleaned. Pineapple-mandarin orange fluff salad for tomorrow in the refrigerator. And then the baking, for a two-day total of 54 dozen cookies, four loaves of bread, and four pans of gingerbread.

Butter pecan shortbread cookies
Coconut cashew cookies
Soft molasses spice cookies
Pecan snowball cookies
Lemon cream cheese cookies
Cream cheese walnut cookies
White chocolate chip pumpkin spice cookies
Cherry pie filling bread
Blueberry pie filling bread

It's only 10pm, so I should easily be able to get the dishes washed and my trays made before I go to bed. Then up early tomorrow morning to put the dishes away and take the trash out before the family arrives en masse at noon for the party.

Cleaning up the bowls, mixers, spoons, spatulas, and cake and bread pans and cookie sheets!!!!!!!!!!!
