I'm not saying "I'll never eat horsemeat" because it depends on how hungry I get. God willing, I'll never be hungry enough to eat it by choice but if someone else chooses to, that's fine with me.

It's interesting that you ask what makes a horse different than a cow, because this is really the difference between Eastern culture and Western culture. The two animals are actually equivalent. In Eastern culture, non-Hindu peoples do not like to eat cattle because cattle are working animals and it is considered ungrateful to eat them after a lifetime of service. In Western culture, the same is true of horses.

It all comes down to, whats acceptable in your culture. In the US eating horse or dog is not a widely accepted form of meat for consumption. If people here want to eat it, I don't mind because, I have a choice of eating it or not. I choose not to. ;)
