The Babies Have Hatched

Well, 2 babies and Mom.



First I noticed her starting to build her nest. Back and forth bringing twigs and such. I noticed both Mom and Dad. Then, just Mom ... plopped in my basket all day long.

She actually let me water the plant, flying to the gutter, just long enough to water it, then back to the plant she went.

The other day, Dad showed back up and stayed the whole day with Mom. Then Dad was gone and 2 days later ... the little babes.

Obviously, I don't plan to water right now. But Mom lets me come out and take a pic and visit. Dad is also there many times.

Truly amazing to watch them. And hopefully my second dove in another basket will also be having babes soon. They have been busy building their nest right now.

It's been so interesting her make the nest, set, see Dad back and forth, and then see the babies. Pretty cool. They are literally 3' out my side door. My poor plant won't survive, but it was worth it.

I took it through the screen door so I didnt scare them; however, they actually like me. Every time I walk out they talk; and they enjoy their daily bath; although I haven't done it with the babes. They are just too cute. I was fun to watch from the nest to the babes.

I'm a lover of all things "nature". How magnificent having this happen just outside your door!

Dad was just there and brought some kind of food. The babes were eating, but I couldn't get a shot. I didn't want to scare them.

I would love to get my basket back, so I hope this isn't their permanent home, lol.
