I didn't check the prices or anything, I just left. I have never seen such a "yard sale" before. I am pretty sure reselling food the way they were is not legal.
I'm wondering if it's one of those extreme couponer's from the TLC network trying to make an extra buck

they should be taking their stock piles over to the less fortunate people who could use it instead of hoarding it in their basement just to look at it...
I most totally agree with you RJ, these people have enough things stock piled for years and they keep stocking more and more things, there are so many needy people why not give them away!

Oddly enough, this weekend I went to another yard sale (not the same area as last week), and this time I did see a food item that I didn't mind picking up. In this case, it was the only thing she had that was edible, and it was very clear why she was selling it - it was going to expire this month and she wasn't going to be able to use it up (however I know I will). It was a couple of opened boxes of K-cups - nothing at all wrong with them, not tampered with or anything. I go through a box a week, so I will have no problem using them up by the end of this month. I paid $1 total and came home with almost 2 full boxes of k-cups in various flavors. A great deal for me!
I don't mind picking up something like that when it is clearly safe and the rest of her yard sale was truly a used household items type of sale.

People sell what their companies sell. LIke I work for Barrel of Fun. Its a potato chip place. We get to buy pallets of food that get opened in the warehouse. Perfectly good, but too much trouble to repackage and restock in warehouse. I get to buy them for a tenth of the price. Maybe the person works in a place similar to mine. It's perfectly fine packaged chips, but pallet was broken or somehow damaged in the warehouse. (packages of chips were never opened but whole pallets wrapped in plastic were). So they sell them so cheap. Maybe that person worked in a factory and got them that way. I mean, who can turn down bags of chips that cost $4 in the store for fifty cents, then all of a sudden you have too much. I currently have 19 cans of bean dip. I got them for 50 cents each. It is hard to turn that down!

But I give them away and use them for recipes. They are good till 2013, so won't get wasted.
