Donna are you new to cooking in pressure cookers? I don't have a recipe, but would help you find one. I have never used one on my own. (Meaning dear old Mom had one, but I never used it alone.)

Dissie I am new to pressure cookers. I know I could do a search on it but I was wondering if anyone here had done it.

I think I would burst into a panic mode if I ever used one of those although the new ones are relatively safe to use and make some great tasting food in little time

I've been using pressure cookers for over 25yrs and have never had a problem with them. They are brilliant if you need to get a meal on the table quick time.

Here is a pressure cooker recipe for pinto beans, it says to soak the beans for an hour before putting them in the pressure cooker, personally I would say this is unnecessary but you may want to follow the recipe exact Donna. I've not tried this recipe before but it looks tasty. :D

PRESSURE COOKER PINTO BEANS
2 c. dry pinto beans
1/2 lg. yellow onion
2 lg. garlic cloves
1 tsp. oregano
4 sprigs fresh cilantro or 1 tsp. dry cilantro herb
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 1/2 c. water
6 qt. pressure cooker
1 tbsp. salt (optional, added to cooked beans)

Soak pinto in hot water in a covered medium saucepan for 1 hour. Drain beans, put in pressure cooker. Add onion, garlic, and spices plus water. Seal lid of pressure cooker. Cook over medium-high heat for 50 minutes. Release pressure under cold running water. Mash cooked beans. OPTIONAL: Add 1 tablespoon salt to cooked beans.

Ooo, that does look like a tasty recipe! :)

I bought the same pressure cooker about a year ago, and have played with it off and on. Everything I've made in it turns out yummy and infused with flavor. I haven't made beans, but did make the 'forbidden' split pea soup the other week. I actually made it in the past with an older pressure cooker, and had it clog the steam release valve and then explode out of it onto the ceiling.

I have 3 pressure cooker cookbooks, and will try to post a few recipes I've tried soon.
:)
