When I lived in the valley, there was a male hummingbird who would dive bomb my cat, me or anything else that was in his yard. He never held still for a picture though. They are fiesty little rascals.

DH got "attacked" by one last year. He was wearing a red ball cap and this hummingbird kept going for him. He had to change his hat, it wouldn't leave him alone until he did

Hummingbirds appear to be quite territorial. I only have one feeder here because there aren't a lot of hummers. The valley will be a different story. The hummingbirds never leave the So Cal valley. I'm going to plant flowers for them as well a put up feeders.Deely wrote:We have one alpha male that stands guard over the entire area and runs all the birds as soon as they light.racrgal wrote:My posts are disappearing today. grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Last year one came through the patio door and was in the LR window. DH very carefully (so not to injure it) caught it and put it back outside - he said you can't realize how tiny they are until you've held one in your hand.
