Patti your quote had me think back to a summer yard sale with my youngest gran, so young but old enough to note an unopened tape of his grandma's favourite Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 on the table. A gift for me when we got home! Yes music is the language of the heart!

As to picking up that cockroach Misa I'm with Patti, sent shivers down my spine! So brave indeed!

Way too chilly a morning for July 20th, needed a jacket and a warm up coffee. Maybe even a simmering cup of chicken broth topped with fresh chives and snipped parsley. My indoor morning saw me opening up my new battery pole saw, getting it out of the box was a work out. I am looking to ease the needed pruning - with my autoimmune/arthritis issues my regular tree saw too close to body parts. Read the instructions and saw kick backs, think I best get a few lessons first. Back and shoulders already saying what are you thinking. Back to planting and plotting!

Once again another early morning and again way too chilly for June, too chilly for me had me do some kitchen catch up. Hopefully by eight it is much much warmer.

Had a bowl of peppers needing to be used, yesterday thought to 'Ice Cream Pail Pickle' brine, have two quarts of lovely mixed peppers in the fridge. Thinking perfect when making sweet and sour sauces. Going to sterilize my 2 quart jar and prepare the brine to add in the cucumber, cauliflower and the like come fridge clean out. Being one of me I can only eat so much! Should work.

I was too tired to reread instructions last night so still looking at that pole saw and leaving the blade guard on! Going to do my herb pots this morning and then get to the unwanted growth known as weeds needing attention!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Your last two quotes are wonderful Gerry!

We too for the last few days have been experiencing very cold weather!!! But the warming trend is supposed to start today with thunderstorms/lightning. Fun times! Right now the sun is shining.

Well Gerry...you are still a whirlwind of activity! Many irons in the fire as they say! These past few months I have been living like that too.

This quote is very pertinent for me right now. The lady I have been looking after is pretty much chair ridden...and has been for many months. I contacted her sister as she lives 2 hours away and she came up for an overnight visit to get her take on her sister. She was amazed at how Joan's condition has deteriorated. So we talked and decided that she needs to be assessed by the medical people. That is in motion now and they will be coming out hopefully soon. As Dave and Joan can not go through another winter here. They are and have been very vocal about not moving. As you know we live in the bush and an hour to town. Saying all that...they are going to be very angry at me and Joan's sister. But it is the right thing to do...no matter how hard and heartbreaking it will be.

Patti, eons ago I picked up that Benjamin Franklin quote engraved in wood, hung it in the garage as a reminder to keep it tidy, with all the clean up happening out there today would be a good day to see it back in place!

No whirlwind here the past few says just slow and steady meanwhile hoping for a much warmer day. I suspect that chill wind came from all that snow that fell in Alberta.

Now off to tame that happy place. Have a great day!

I would love to know how you "Create a life you don’t need a vacation from" when there are so many externals that prohibit that from happening. LOLOLOL! Ah...but we can dream! :-)

Got half the property mowed yesterday and will finish up today as we are expecting more thunder/lightning/rain around 5pm. And the weather is supposed to be like that for the next few days. Meanwhile...the grass is still in fast growing stage.

When you are busy mowing your property Patti I often wonder just how far out our mowing area would have gone had we stayed in the country! Each year I would clear areas further out, make walking paths to the creek and clear ditches along the roadway in order to safely mow. I know how beautiful that property of yours is, I can only imagine how lovely that yard is looking all greened and mowed!

Going to do more large herb pots near the house tonight to have them close at hand. A plus is they look good in my 'vintage' like containers. A gift from gran before he left for Toronto so a real plus!

When this major garden reno started I knew it would not be easy but never thought it would take this long! Our outdoor garden time is just way short. Not easy but I love being out there!

Sorry I've been quiet ladies. Been attending more training - no cockroaches this time  We went to a training about using historical documents to help teach WWII, which covers a good chunk of what I teach for history (I teach reading, too). We had several speakers, given lots of resources, discovered a museum my teaching buddy and I are planning to visit soon, and got teary-eyed over several stories we heard about dealing with the war. It was a really great training.

Tomorrow, meeting up with the ladies (a group of co-workers - former and current) for lunch and catching up.

I hope all is well.

When we moved here Gerry, the property was so large and overgrown that we had to determine how the different areas would look made into lawns. And like you, we opened up more and more over the years. Hence, it takes me 6 hours of hand mowing to complete over 2 days. And it is uneven and hilly. Makes for great exercise!!! So your quote is right on and timely! :-)

Ah...to have herb pots!!! And to have them close by would be wonderful! I don't have the time for gardening anymore...unfortunately! The closest I get is sprouting seeds indoors for my salads . lol

Enjoy your catch up time with your friends Misa! :-) And your training sounds so fascinating. Your kiddos will find it interesting for sure.

Well, on the way to lunch, one of my dear friends went from being a grandmother of 2 to a grandmother of 4! Her daughter in law gave birth to healthy twin boys. I'm so happy for her; she has two granddaughters that are her life, but those grandbabies are currently living in Europe. I know she's excited to have some littles to spoil nearby. 5 of our group of 7 made it to lunch; our two missing members recently also had babies within the past 3 months!

Patti - I love the quote. I think I'm probably going to roll out my crafting cart I got this week and start playing with some beads. :)
