Re: ~ Click to Feed the Animals ~
Weather aside we managed our get togethers with one to go! Granddaughter and grans on for next Saturday. She is not a big fan of turkey, planed is #recipe8741 and cabbage rolls two of her favorites.
Son gifted me with a good many pounds of ground pork for cabbage rolls and special recipes along with lovely homemade smoked sausage and small roasts all cabela packaged. Using the same recipe for years and years has me know Cabbage Rolls are only as good as the ground meat and the sour cabbage. The pricey pack I bought will see to other recipes that be spiced up if need be, rolls will be made with the freshly ground. On for this morning.
Cats as with birds seem to have them hunker down and find shelter when the weather is bad so nothing for a few days but the empty dish has me know they likely both were here the last two days. Seems another may be around or possibly got out - puppies barking looked out and saw a shiny black cat going down the tree line so like Shadow I panicked thinking he had slipped out, quickly called out the door and he ran away. Had me take a can of food to lure my sleeping boys to assure it wasn't Shadow. Big sigh of relief!

Reading your intended menu for family had my mouth watering Gerry! Wish I was there!! I am so happy to hear about the outdoor cats still coming to eat! Our temps here have risen yet again and by Sunday...we are expecting another 5" of snow.

I love Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes. Over the years had never thought to his personal life, recently read his biography and like the many biographies I've read one sees to one lot of the unexpected!
Warmer but two days of heavy fog. Looking out the window a perfect winter scene but remains I still prefer warm and sunny!

It is warmer here too Gerry...-1C! Snow weather here. So looking to more of the white stuff....not! Are things settling down for you?

I love that quote Patti! It was good of Judy to let us know so we don't worry. Shoulders take a lot of healing and really slow one down. Hope the recovery goes well Judy.
Son added an extra package to the homemade sausage varieties, new recipe marked hot to see what I thought. It was an absolutist winner, have to hope he has more! It reminded me we often had old fashioned mustard pickles with the spicier/hotter sausage back in our valley days especially when we had company. Need to add that to my summer list.
He also dropped off a huge bag of jalapeno peppers he had already prepped ready to pickle. Apparently a great buy on a big box. Made eight pints, they need refrigeration so the extra fridges come in handy! They look really good. I pickled most of my garden jalapenos to use in recipes as far too often not available in small town Saskatchewan! A facebook friend in Arizona shared her jars of canning and the recipe, come winter uses them in her recipes. Been years since I pickled peppers no idea why I didn't think to using them in recipes!
Have a great weekend!

It is one of my favourite quotes Gerry! I pickle hot peppers too and make my own Sriracha hot sauce. I put them on pizza, and in grilled cheese with chopped up ham among the myriad of other uses. What a score from your son! Happy to hear that Judy is still clicking!

The Theodore Roosevelt quote is similar to what my grandparents and parents taught us to do!
I must check my personal Canning book to check out the collection of pepper recipes. The one I used was similar to the Arizona recipe, gleaned and printed a number of others one calling for a couple tablespoons of oil. Do you use oil in any of your pepper recipes? I am sure one of the recipes I used back when for peppers used oil. Son is in the process of moving, canning not an option for him right now so like a good mom I made them up. Can be said we all help each other! Have a great Sunday!
