Areas that aren't used to that much snow/weather have so much trouble. That is normal for MN weather. I feel for you. Sounds like it might get bad. Lets hope all you lose is internet.

Why does this site do that???

I typed " We got 6 inches out of it, no big deal! Just think of those folks in Boston who got over 100 inches in total over the last month!"

I typed that in notepad , copied and pasted.

We made it through in good shape. We only got another 6 inches of snow in last night's storm.....bringing our total on the ground this a.m. of 13 inches. It's not just the snow that is such a big issue here, as we see heavy snows most every winter. It's the steep mountainous terrain and the trees and limbs that are often brought down during these storm. On my mile long private road that descends 1,000 ft in that short distance the road is completely covered by trees. Then, at the bottom, the county and state roads have large trees growing right up to the road's edge......POWER OUTAGE and the difficulty of emergency vehicles to get up and down the roads are the real issues. We also have "shadow caverns" where due to terrain the sun in the winter never hits sections of all roads....especially my private road. Thus the need to act ahead of these storms. I was well prepared, and am glad I was, and even more glad that nothing disastrous occurred. I recall a few years ago we had a particularly cold snowy winter and my road was impassable from mid Dec-mid March  You walked, or you just simply did not get off this mountain :( I haven't walked my particular section of the road yet, and probably won't for a few days. I'm sure I'll be clearing the road of limbs, and hopefully don't see anything worse! Thanks for the "well wishes" folks!!!

I'm glad you came through okay Deepster. Do you have a generator? Our "blizzard" was definitely a major event down here, Dissie. The kids loved it!
Here's a pic of our pool diving board.

That pool shot is so funny. I so agree, up north ... they are prepared. But, it has horrible for some areas.

The south gets snow; and, the entire place shuts down. They just don't have the equipment to deal with it.

Can I say it is 78 and sunshine here and 80 tomorrow. Been enjoying the warmer weather the last couple of days.

Still working on my furniture painting and tile work; so, been very busy lately. That is it on from down south!

Tourists are beginning to show up - NIGHTMARE! Avoid restaurants, beaches, and driving!

The weather here is all over the place...40's today, 70's tomorrow and 20's toward the end of the week. I'm thinking of moving south!

D, from Feb (mid) through May it is a mess.

We get families on extended weekend and weeks off from up north.
We get tourists that start from colleges all of March; then - april and Easter.
April and May we get overseas tourists. Two months of hell. Two months of semi hell lol.

Finally, I made it into town today. All the snow went away by yesterday, and that was a lot of snow to melt!! We've had a couple of days with temps in the mid-50s.....much warmer in town!!! Well, this late in the winter season, with the sun rising higher in the sky and it doesn't take much time to see any icy weather to take a quick gasp. At least I partially replenished the basics of healthy eating. Gosh, I completely forget how much I miss fresh fruit and veggies until I don't have them on hand....not to mention being without eggs, milk, various cheeses and greens!! Ain't it a blessing that February is the shortest month of the year? Though March is often our worst month for wintery weather, at least Spring is just around the corner. After mid-April we will have seen that last of our snows.....hopefully, but not guaranteed ;)

Temperature forecast here for the week is evenings between 15C and 18C and the days between 30C to 35C, some days just plain hot but others become overcast and humid.
