Can you tell me about Coconut oil?

Post by kberry » Thu Aug 29, 2013 9:09 pm

Hello

I have recently heard about coconut oil and that it had great benefits and it's so good for you.

I'd like ton know what kind is the best and does it really help all those problems?

http://coconutoil.com/

I need to lose 50 lbs...still and my husband about 40.

I have been trying to eat better and stay under the calorie budget.

Any help here would be great!

Hiya kberry,

Good to see you ;)

I too have heard many good things about coconut oil and use it all the time now. I would be interested in hearing more.

Hi QueenBea

I did find that link in my first post and thought it very interesting.
I just want more info. Like can you taste the coconut when you cook with it?
Is it actually better than olive, grape, or sunflower oils?
Which oil is the healthiest to use?

Things like that.

I have heard both good things and bad things about coconut oil, so I am confused about it. I bought some thinking it was good because my friend told me all about it after hearing about it on Dr. Oz, then I read up on it and some say it is terrible for you, so I don't know.

I stick to olive oil, because I know the health benefits from that!

Hand cream, rub it on your hands at night in the dry winter months ;)

I have heard good and bad. Mostly good. I do keep it on hand. It is mild, so I use it for some mild dishes. Costly, but we will see. I want to hear more about it.

No it doesn't taste like coconuts. Just like olive oil doesn't taste like olives.

I used it a lot when I was low carbing. It isn't really even an oil, its like crisco. Atleast the ones I have used.

They used to use it pretty much all the time in the "olden" days, then canola and vegetable oil came into the market and it kinda got pushed into the back of the shelf.

I know for a fact, because I did this. Put a tablespoon into your coffee in the morning. I know gross...but drink it quickly and it lowers your appetite all day long. It really works. I did it. Yes, I had to get over the oil slick on my coffee, but after I got used to it, it was fine. No taste, just knowing its in there might be a problem for some.

Dissie, no disrespect intended in what I am about to say, but I have concerns about Dr. OZ. First of all, I do not have television service, so I have never seen the man. However, I do have a neighbor who watches his show, and is enamored. What distresses me is, here she is a quite elderly woman who falls for nearly every "conspiracy theory" out there. I'm not accusing OZ of that. What did SHOCK me was the magazines she is now receiving under his "auspices". It's frightening that she watches the show, receives his mag, and is patronizingly SOLD TO, hyped to, commercialized to, and with a mag that makes little more sense than assuming everyone can make money off the elderly. I have no tolerance for OZ after seeing the "ad rag" sales pitch he sends out. It's blatant commercialism, and is nothing more than a pitch to get people to buy, buy, buy :!: What a sad man he is!
