Thanks, Dissie! Galley Wench's instructions were fool proof. Sourdough is quite an adventure but fun.

Great photos . . . glad to see your dough got the giant bubble too! This is probably one of the most foregiving recipes I've ever tried!

GW, that big ole bubble made me giggle! I'll try this recipe again when I move back down in the valley. I'll be closer to 800 ft instead of 4,500 ft above sea level. I'm positive that's going to make a huge difference in my bread adventures.

Looks like it was a big success! What would you like to be different. My first sourdough was 30 years ago and it was in a loaf pan!

I don't know whether it's the altitude here or the dry air but it's been a challenge to bake here. Cake recipes that I've used for eons are now dry, bread overrises and cookies are flat. I have a bread recipe I have been making perfectly for almost 30 years UNTIL I moved up here. Now it's a disaster every time.
Sweetie would like sourdough in a loaf pan much better than the round loaf. He's not a fan of crust and the round loaf is a bit difficult for sammies.

That's why I like Peter's recipes, you can make the same bread, one in a loaf pan without the crusty exteropr. and breads with a crust with th3 moist interior . . . everyone's happy with the same basic recipe!

I think I'll love experimenting when the results are a bit more predictable.
