I haven't done one lot of baking these past months, thoughts of baking yeast breads had me want to stop in and touch base. Spring break here this week, one home on break, the teenager has the week off as well, a good time to make some yeast breads and possibly some muffins and Monkey Bread.

Both shoulders have had surgery since spring, the last in November which sees me unable to knead but love the way the bread maker does the work!

I too have been making up small packages of bread and buns, it is one way of enjoying it fresh. Same with buns and muffins.

Everyone here loves Monkey Bread, they can't seem to resist those delicious little balls. Have to admit I too am guilty of pulling off little mini cinnamon balls as I go by. Plans for the weekend - Monkey Bread/mini Cinnamon Buns- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/cinnam ... bread-7246 using our favorite dough http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/feathe ... d-buns-127 and dinner buns for weekend supper using the Feather Bread recipe.

Loving those muffins, hope the ingredients are availble here. I did look though a lot ot recipes today and think I need to get to the kitchen shop for a new tip to give that beautiful decorating a try! :D

I know what you mean, Gerry. I can not knead bread like I use too. My wrists can't take 10 minutes of kneading bread. I do not have a bread machine, but I have a mixer with a dough hook that I use to do the heavy kneading. Then I finish the job by doing some light kneading. :) We love homemade breads. I think it is something one can never get tired of eating.

I hope your shoulders are feeling better.

I too have a bread machine and KA mixer, but lately I've been baking breads using the 'streatch and pull' method http://www.recipezazz.com/forum/viewtop ... f=7&t=1193 It's easy and fun watch the dough change with such little effort.

Hope you're feeling better Gerry, I'm sure it's been difficult just doing anything.

Are you guys on Facebook? Rita started a group called Zaar Buddies Worldwide, and it's been fun just catching up with everyone.

Wow, those loaves of bread looks positively beautiful, Galley! ..... and very tasty looking! I'll have to try that sometime.

As for myself, I don't do Facebook. I'm really not all that interested in FB. I know, I'm wierd.

I made some abm bread-

I managed even though things were against me. I was planning to make my usual white bread abm, but I couldn't open the recipe on f.c (still can't)
I finally found the cookbook it was from but I then realized I was out of powdered milk. So I adapted the recipe with warm milk instead of water and it turned out nicely. Blessing in disguise!

My SIL has an ABM. I used to borrow it regularly. Now she lives in OK and I am in MN, so thats not so easy anymore. I simply have to buy one. I don't have a kitchen aid mixer either..... So its either buy one or knead away myself. I plan to get one soon as I want to make Kittens cinnamon rolls soon. (Again)

Dissie: Have you ever tried the stretch and fold method, instead of kneading. It's become my favorite. Here is a link to some photos, the recipe I was using was for sourdough, but the same concept can be used with yeast. Basically mix up the ingredients, allow to sit for 10 minutes, then stretch and fold like a letter top to bottom, then turn 90 degrees and stretch and fold that direction; cover and allow to sit for 10 minutes and repeat. You do this a total of 4 times, when you finish it looks like kneaded dough.

This really made my heart happy. Thank you. That way you could say honestly you made them from scratch. When I get a weekend off, I am going to attempt to make cinnamon rolls.
