I don't know if anyone saw my posts, but we are expecting snow this weekend! SO NOT READY FOR THIS! I did get my propane tank tonight. Just not hooked up to the grill yet. I will eek out something for this event Shadows! Where is our queen of the grill, Kim? She grills everything!

Well we sparked up the smoker and smoked some salmon. I thought I had posted the recipe here but I couldn't find it so I just posted it now. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/maple- ... lmon-10658

I used maple wood chips for this as I didn't want the fish to be black. The alder chips I use for smoking roast pork blackens the outside of the meat. The maple doesn't do that ;)

Bea your outdoor kitchen looks great! I am envious!
That salmon looks so good! I have used a combo of maple and alder without it turning the fish black. Alder is the traditional wood to smoke salmon with.
Great looking pics and fish.

Dissie I do not know where Kim is, maybe you can point her here.

I have made, photographed and reviewed Kchurchill5's http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/apple- ... chops-6827 . I only had two thin pork chops so I altered the recipe accordingly. Very nice flavor.

I know the photo is not the best, I still had steaks and burgers cooking on the grill and had to get back outside ( if I did nit take the photo when I did the chops would have been devoured by my wife befor I snapped the pic).

Gerry wrote:Great pics Bea! Love your outdoor kitchen set up!

We have a sitting are with a gazebo that we love, we added a mini deck with a bbq gazebo so those manning the grill could be comfortable rain or shine.

Have a little cornor of the garage set up with a electric cooler for drinks and such as well as a coffee station, have shelves set aside for the bbq 'stuff' We plan on expanding the oudoor area next season. :)
Thanks Gerry. I love the sound of that gazebo set up, and that the cooler is close by with drinks, lol.
Bergy wrote:With that setup Bea you can just lock your kitchen door and live outside (you probably do) Love it
Thanks Bergy, and yes, you got it right. I pretty much live outside. I'm only inside to sleep :D
Dissie wrote:Yup Yup Bergy! You can see her garden in the back ground. Lovely set up Bea! I am so envious of your smoker!
Thanks Dissie, I love my smoker. I originally bought it for Wayne, but I use it more then he does. So I have claimed it as mine

Thanks Lee, I don't know why the alder turns the outside of the meat black. I'm wondering if it's because we use fresh alder? We have lots of it at camp so no need to buy it. I have never tried the dried alder.

Might be! The fresh would still be holding lots of sap! Try collecting some to keep near your smoker a few weeks in advance, that is what I do with cherry.
