If you can you should try them both, you may be surprised... store bought oragano I stay away from , it is not even close to the fresh thing.

yes I agree fresh is better and I used to grow it, after my DH died I slowly lost interest in garden growing and have never had luck growing herbs indoors, for me now it's just easier using the dried
The dried whole form ( which it seems you use) is far superior to the bottled stuff you get in the stores. I purchase my herbs by the pound from Atlantic Spice Co. for cheaper then you can buy one of those little jars.

I like Greek oregano, and it is the only oregano that I grow and use. :)

your right Shadows the dry whole is stronger than the bottled in fact there is no comparison you actually use less than the recipe calls for because it's very strong, I get really good Greek oregano that is still on the stem at my Greek store

Mexican oregano is actually not the same herb as Italian or Greek oregano from what I know.
I'll take fresh oregano any day, fresh green or fresh dried. Even the best oregano if it is old, is useless.

I use Greek. But you are completely correct when you say there is a difference. I find parsley has a different taste in types too. Sad fact for me. Hubby isn't an oregano lover. He says it overpowers EVERY thing its in. I don't think so...but we all have things like that. Some don't care for cilantro. I can take it or leave it. I don't love it. I think pepper does that to dishes. So I cook with it but sparingly unless its sausage gravy, then I use a heavy hand. This is how I see it, heck, you can shake that shaker as much as you like on your plate, I just don't care for it on my plate! (hubby uses so much, it makes me sneeze) :o
