Baking with soft tub margarine

Has anyone ever baked cookies or bars with soft tub margarine? would it be okay to use it? I'm out of the hard block kind and wanted to bake today.

I forgot to say it's Country Crock soft tub margarine,

You can bake with tub margarine but your cookie dough will be very soft you may need to place the dough in the fridge before using it, it's not like using hard margarine or real butter but yes you could use it in an emergency. I've only used soft margarine for cookies so I cant say how it would be for bars.

You want 80% or higher fat content to bake. Check the package as they are different. It should say somewhere on the label.

I personally have never used tub margarine for
baking, water content is just too high for me. HTH

One thing to remember is that what the food companies do to make "soft" butter, margarine, cheese etc. is to whip in water. (and charge you a boatload of money to do it) depending on how much you use you may need to adjust your recipe accordingly.

Thank you to everyone for their replies to my question, I ended up not baking with the soft margarine..it does feel lighter than really butter or hard margarine, I did want to take a chance
